Guiding Scripture

John 13:34-35

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Statement of Care

Love Boldly. Serve Joyfully. Lead Courageously.  This vision statement from The United Methodist Church will be our thematic plan for the next three years.  Love Boldly is our focus for the 2026 Michigan Annual Conference.

We will be highlighting our United Methodist identity through shared conversations about our Wesleyan heritage and Social Principles. This will be an excellent opportunity to reflect upon and gain wisdom in applying these principles in our lives, churches, community, and the world. Come discover how we may love boldly as we daily live in and engage the world around us in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Let us put the tenet to Love Boldly into practice. We have a clergy person among us who has been experiencing an escalating allergy to ingested and airborne cinnamon exposure. Any exposure requires use of an Epi-pen and trip to the hospital. Each exposure increases sensitivity to airborne cinnamon. We are working with the resort to minimize use.  Menus may be altered from what is listed to care for one among us. We ask that you leave any item containing cinnamon at home, including: candy, mints, gum, toothpaste, toiletries, baked goods, cereal, fragrance, essential oils, etc. A chance encounter in an elevator after using one of these items could send another to the hospital.  Love Boldly.

Let us be reminded it is a privilege to gather and serve as members of this body. We have a contractual agreement of good conduct with Grand Traverse Resort, and a covenant with the body to care for each other.  Love Boldly. Should the need arise, a member of the Commission on the Annual Conference Session will remind you of your covenant to care for one another.  By completing your registration, you’ve assessed that your personal wellness is suited for this gathering, you are committed to care for self and others, and you agree to conduct yourself with integrity for the blessing of the body of Christ, gathered by the shores of the Grand Traverse Bay.
